About
Am I the right editor for you?

I work exclusively on non-fiction projects, so unless you're the author of a fiction book there is a good chance I can help you!
It can be hard to know who is the right person to trust with your project, so I have given a bit of my background below. You can also see some examples of the reports I have edited on the Experience page. If you have any questions, please do get in touch.
I graduated university in 2003 with a 2:1 in Media and Sociology and began work as editorial assistant for a construction magazine publisher. In 2005 I undertook journalism training with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), receiving a distinction for its postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism.
Over the next 10 years I went on to work for charities and local government organisations in London and Sussex, as well as for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. My roles in these organisations involved writing and editing a range of documents, including case studies, articles, publications, newsletters and web content.
Since starting Brighton Editorial in 2015 I have worked on over 140 publications, with regular clients including the OECD and RAND Europe. Links to some of these reports can be found here. I also work with academics and individual authors who are preparing papers for journals or books for academic publishing.
I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, a non-profit body promoting excellence in English language editing, and I regularly undertake training to improve my editorial skills.
In October 2024 I joined the RNLI as a volunteer lifeboat press officer. In this role I produce news releases and social media content for my local lifeboat station, and respond to media queries. It's a real privilege to be involved with the charity and to hopefully, in a very small way, help to save lives at sea.
I live in Brighton and Hove with my partner and our two children. When not editing I am generally telling someone to put their shoes on and hurry up. Sometimes we make it out of the house in time to enjoy some time at the beach or in the countryside.
